A subtle Fallout 5 tease may suggest that its release could be closer than we thought.
Alongside The Elder Scrolls series, Fallout is right up there as one of Bethesda’s most beloved RPGs and fans are desperate for news on Fallout 5, whenever that time might come.
The only thing we know for sure about Fallout 5 is that it’s being released at some point; we just don’t know when. In fact, we know less about Fallout 5 than we do The Elder Scrolls VI, and that’s saying something.
Fallout 5 has at least been confirmed by Bethesda’s Todd Howard. But it might be safe to assume that it will be a next-gen title at this point.

However, in a story picked up by TweakTown, the development of Fallout 5 may have taken an interesting turn, that’s at least according to Jez Corden on the Xbox Two Podcast.
Jez Corden claims to have been informed by sources that Bethesda’s MMORPG codenamed “Blackbird” has reportedly been cancelled internally, and parent company ZeniMax Media is shifting all focus to the Fallout series.
The reason given as to why Microsoft has reportedly cancelled the new MMORPG, Blackbird, is so that there’s not another direct competitor to Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft, which is also owned by Microsoft.
“I heard it was a case of trade-offs, and that the program to expand Fallout 5, just Fallout in general, that's where they've decided to make the investments, and where the money will be translated into more of a surefire win,” said Corden.

That being said, Corden reminded viewers and listeners of the podcast to take this information with a pinch of salt, as we all should when it comes to unconfirmed rumours.
Of course, we’ll update you once we hear new information on the progress of Fallout 5.
