Steam has a new free game available to download, and it seems to be an absolute hit with 98% positive reviews already.

There are some games when as soon as you see a picture or video of the game, you know it’s going to be a good one.

Dogwalk came out on Steam earlier this week, and it feels like it could be one of those games.

It’s a surprisingly simple premise. You play as a big, excitable dog pulling a small child along in tow through the snowy winter woods, and there are puzzles to solve.

It’s a pretty adorable game, and the game uses this cute cartoony style reminiscent of Pixar or Dreamworks films to convey its message.

Blender Studio

Dogwalk is made by Blender Studio, using both Blender and the Godot Game Engine to test and improve the capabilities of both engines. They’re available to download for free as open-source software.

As of writing this, Dogwalk has a 98% positive rating based on 522 reviews. Many reviews cite the atmosphere and art style of the game as standouts, as well as how fun it is to control the dog.

“Very cute! I spent at least 10 minutes just slinging the kid around the ice! Had a lot of simple fun! It's free so even better!” reads one positive review.

“The biome and environment is cold but the atmosphere and characters melted my heart,” another review reads. “I sometimes wonder what it's like to be a dog and I feel like this game gave me an answer to it. Cutest game ever!”

A third review adds: “Really makes you feel like a dog taking its owner for a walk. Such a pretty little game, followed the development on the Blender channel, it was wonderful to watch the team work on it!”

Dogwalk is available to download now on Steam.
