Yet another glimpse at HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series has been dropped and this time, it’s Hagrid who’s taking centre stage.
Yesterday, HBO released the very first on-set photo showing young star Dominic McLaughlin in costume as the titular boy wizard Harry Potter.
It’s heartwarming to think what a huge and magical moment that must be for the actor.
In the image, McLaughlin looked incredibly similar to a young Daniel Radcliffe.

As for his costume, well, the trademark classes and scar returned, although the Hogwarts school uniform has seemingly undergone some changes if we’re comparing it to the original film versions.
In the films, each house wore grey jumpers and cardigans, decorated with coloured trim reflecting their house alongside their respective crest.
In the TV series, it looks as if each house will wear a coloured jumper. For example, Harry’s is shown in the image to be burgundy with a brighter red and yellow trim.
With that in mind, we should expect to see Ravenclaw wear blue jumpers, Slytherin in green, and Hufflepuff in yellow.

No glimpse of a new or revised house crest was given.
Today though, we have received our first look at Nick Frost in costume as Hagrid.
Sporting long tresses, a big ol’ bushy beard, and an oversized khaki overcoat, Frost looks fantastic as everybody’s favourite groundskeeper.
Again, there are some very subtle differences here. Hagrid’s brown underjacket and big leather belt from the original Philosopher's Stone film appear to be somewhat recreated here but they’re worn open, revealing a stripy undershirt.

There’s no denying that Frost’s version of the character looks a little less, uh, haggard or worn than the late great Robbie Coltrane’s.

We do know though that HBO is largely opting for a younger vibe when it comes to the casting of its Hogwarts Staff.
That’s something that’s already proving polarising.

“Just doesn’t hit the same,” wrote one fan.
“He looks perfect for this role,” added another.
I wonder if we’ll get another image tomorrow. Ron and Hermione, perhaps?
