breaking news

It's all coming together.
HBO's Harry Potter TV series has dropped its first look at its leading young star, Dominic McLaughlin, in action on set as Harry Potter himself.
While the TV series will inevitably carve out its own path, diverging away from the iconic film series, it's hard to deny here that McLaughlin bares a striking resemblance to a young Daniel Radcliffe.
In the image, McLaughlin can be seen sporting the iconic glasses with a faint scar peaking out from his hair line.

This photo acts as as our first look at the new Hogwarts uniforms as well as the new lead.
The overall vibe is very much in keeping with the original live-action portrayal in the film series, but I can't help but notice that Harry's jumper and tie here are subtly different.
The jumper is a deep burgundy red, suggesting jumpers will be more strongly branded to the individual houses.
In the film series, you may recall that they were all grey; instead, students' houses were reflected on jumpers and cardigans via a coloured trim or the presence of a house crest.

The colouring of Harry's tie is also more subdued than in the OG film version.
Unfortunately, we can't see if the house crests have been redesigned as it's cleverly cropped out, nor does the background give anything away.
Alongside the release of the photo, the series has also added several new names to its cast.
As per a report by Deadline, Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson will portray Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey is joining as Rolanda Hooch, while Anton Lesser is on board as Garrick Ollivander.

Casting Lesser is a peak choice, if you ask me.
You'll likely have recently seen the actor as Major Partagaz in Andor. he also played Qyburn in Game of Thrones.
Brealey is an actress you may recall as Molly Hooper in fan-favourite TV show Sherlock.
With filming underway, it's now a countdown until the first official teaser trailer drops.

Perhaps this year's Back to Hogwarts Day in September will yield exciting results.
