HBO's controversial Harry Potter reboot is set to land in 2027 and while there's still nothing in the way of a trailer, HBO has just dropped a first look at the project.
The image was dropped on social media, granting fans a glimpse at our new Harry Potter, portrayed by Dominic McLaughlin.
In the 'book accurate' image, our hero can be seen in his Gryffindor Quidditch gear walking away from the camera. The back of his cloak reads both "Potter" and the number "7".
It's snowing in the scene and it looks like Harry is making his way towards Hogwarts' Quidditch grounds.

A crowd can be seen gathered in front of a structure located in the background of the shot which hosts banners representing both Gryffindor and what appears to be Hufflepuff. There's also a fun makeshift banner reading "Fred" and "George".
After Some Initial Hesitation, Fans Seem To Be On Board With The Reboot
It's hard to really take anything away from the image beyond that but it's certainly generated a positive response from fans. The first look appears to strike the right tone with many diehard fans describing the glimpse as being just how they imagined the story after originally reading JK Rowling's books.
"Been a Harry Potter fan since the books came out and this first look actually has me cautiously optimistic," said one Twitter/X user in response. "The aesthetic feels right. The real test will be whether they give the story the room it deserves. A TV series has no excuse not to."
Another remarked, "Everything about this has looked so peak. Please don't mess it up."
It's a step in the right direction for the series which was met with backlash when originally announced. Many questioned if there was a need to redo Harry Potter given that the film series remains one of the most popular in the world despite finishing up almost 14 years ago.
Fans still associate those original actors with the various characters leading many to speculate that the series would be dead on arrival. After all, how do you reimagine iconic locations like Hogwarts when Warner Bros. got it bang on first time?
However, it does look as if fans are starting to approach the series with more of an open mind, especially as it offers the chance to adapt each book in far more detail.
HBO plans to adapt a book per season so we could be looking at quadruple or more the run time of the films per each instalment of the story.
That means we'll see characters and storylines that were originally cut from the films.
Of course, many still plan to boycott the series due to JK Rowling's transphobic controversies in recent years.
Harry Potter remains without a release date but is due to land sometime in 2027.
