Harry Potter’s HBO reboot is on the way, and it’s later than first thought. As confirmed by HBO boss Casey Bloys, the latest TV adaptation of all seven of JK Rowling’s beloved, and now controversial, wizarding books will be coming in 2027.
The fandom is enormous, which is one of the reasons Hogwarts Legacy sold as many copies as it did, that kind of worldwide appeal doesn’t come easily.
Bloys, in an interview with Deadline, said, ‘I would say, to narrow it down to some extent, early 2027. And now you’re going to ask, does that mean January, February, March, April? That we’re not ready to say. I’ll say early 2027.’
As filming slowly wraps up, there are five major things we’re hoping to see if it’s going to be a success.
5. The Secret Weasley Sibling
We already know it’s doing this but we don’t know to what extent.

With the series having a longer run-time than the first film more story elements from the books can be explored, like the secret Weasley sibling the film’s never covered.
4. Voldemort As He Should Be
Ralph Fiennes Voldemort is iconic but the TV series has the opportunity to delve deeper into how he’s depicted in the books.
I want to see the snake-like features he’s supposed to have, as well as the glowing red eyes for a really menacing villain.

3. Inclusivity
The new TV series hasn’t been afraid to be ambitious with its cast despite obvious backlash from aggressive “fans.”
Rumours of Voldemort being a woman in this version sound like an excellent way to expand the narrative without changing core story beats, and that’s very, very exciting.
2. Care For The Actors
Like I said before there will always be aggressive fans who want to tear down anyone or anything they don’t like about this new reboot.
However, when you look back on the making of the films it’s clear the crew wanted to protect and nurture its growing cast as much as possible so they always felt safe and comfortable on set. I’m hoping the same will be said about the making of the TV series.
1. Snape’s Thoughts And Feelings Expanded Upon
This is purely personal for me as Snape was one of my favourite characters when I watched the films.
I’m excited to see Paapa Essiedu’s take on the character but I’m also excited to see how the show delves deeper into Snape’s secrets, and whether any of it will be teased well before the big reveal at the end of the series.
