Hogwarts Legacy 2 officially teased; first-look expected amidst Harry Potter TV series

Finally, Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy 2 is on the way.

To be fair to Warner Bros., it has teased the arrival of Hogwarts Legacy 2 but only in passing. If the sequel were to happen, it’s said that it could have a modern-day setting to coincide with the upcoming live-action series from HBO, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

What’s more, while it wasn't directly mentioned by name, job listings at Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software have described prospective roles that sound a lot like Hogwarts Legacy 2. However, this latest update comes directly from a recent earnings report with Warner Bros. shareholders.

What does the earnings report say about Hogwarts Legacy 2?

After mentioning LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight as the “highest-rated LEGO game ever”, Warner Bros. had something very interesting to say on Hogwarts Legacy 2.

“We expect Games to more meaningfully contribute to segment profitability going forward as our pipeline expands, including the second instalment of Hogwarts Legacy,” read a section of the earnings report.

The report then went on to mention the future of the Harry Potter franchise, in particular the aforementioned HBO series. “We expect the debut of the Harry Potter series on HBO Max later this year will boost the demand for the Harry Potter Experiences and consumer products,” it continued.

So, if you’re a fan of Harry Potter’s Wizarding World, it looks like you have plenty of exciting times ahead to look forward to. The first teaser/trailer for Hogwarts Legacy 2 might even drop while the TV series is airing, or perhaps just after the finale.

When can we expect Hogwarts Legacy 2?

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess. We don’t know if it’s already begun its early development, though it is a possibility. At best, Hogwarts Legacy 2 is most likely in its early stages of production, so its release could be a year or two away, if we’re lucky.

That being said, given that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel is mentioned in this earnings report, Warner Bros. has clear intentions. If we’re extra lucky, it would be great to get a tease within the next 12 months or so, even if it's just a cinematic or a logo. We’ll have our fingers crossed.

Of course, the moment Warner Bros. Games does officially announce Hogwarts Legacy 2, we’ll be sure to let you know right away.

When is the Harry Potter HBO release date?

As of right now, all we know is that it’s scheduled to launch on HBO Max this coming December, but no specific date has been announced yet. However, that confirmed date will arrive in the weeks ahead.

We do know that it will be inspired by the first Harry Potter novel, The Philosopher’s Stone. Moreover, each new season will be inspired by the novels, so that means the already confirmed season two will be based on The Chamber of Secrets.

At least while we wait for the arrival of Hogwarts Legacy 2 and the Harry Potter HBO series, we can still keep ourselves entertained with the original Hogwarts Legacy that was released in 2023.
