The Chamber of Secrets has been opened thanks to a brand new PC mod, which adds a unique quest to Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy permits players to explore virtual iterations of various Wizarding World locations, including Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and Azkaban (if you play as a Hufflepuff).

There are plenty of iconic locales we’ve yet to visit though, and that includes the infamous Chamber of Secrets.

It’s where Harry Potter faced off against the basilisk in the second book and film but, of course, the chamber’s origins extend far beyond the parameters of Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

It’s thought that Salazar Slytherin created the chamber during the medieval period, with it first being opened by his descendant Tom Marvolo Riddle (Lord Voldemort) in the 1940s.

It awaits to be seen if the chamber is officially drafted into Hogwarts Legacy’s upcoming unannounced sequel, but for now, you can explore it via a new mod offering.

‘The Chamber of Secrets’ has landed on CurseForge, developed by users maxshig_dev, KBNGaming2, theTayra, and Dyserina.

Intended for “higher level” characters, it introduces a dungeon-inspired, story-focused quest that sees players explore “a forgotten underworld of flooded corridors, creature nests, ritual chambers, and the remains of Salazar Slytherin’s true legacy”.

“Chamber of Secrets is a dark, story-focused dungeon mod that sends players deep below the castle to uncover a place built not just to hide a monster, but to imprison, test, and destroy,” reads the synopsis.

“Fight through ancient sewers, creature-infested tunnels, caverns, and abandoned Slytherin sanctums as you piece together the horrifying truth hidden beneath Hogwarts.”

The mod features “custom environments, atmospheric exploration, environmental storytelling, and intense encounters”. In fact, it’s a rather unique take on the Chamber of Secrets.

Rather than simply bringing the film version to life, the mod reimagines the location as what the creators describe as “far larger and far more terrifying than legend ever told”.

How to locate the base game’s entrance to the Chamber of Secrets

You have to have completed the quest ‘In The Shadow of the Study’ in order for this mod to be playable; it’s a side quest located within Hogwarts Castle that ends with an offer to learn the forbidden Cruciatus Curse.

Once you’ve completed that, you’re going to want to travel to the actual entrance to the chamber, which is indeed located within the base game.

Head to the girls' bathroom located near Slytherin’s common room. It’s near the Lower Grand Staircase Floo Flame fast travel point.

There you’ll find the circular sinks that look just like those from the Harry Potter films. One of the sink taps features a serpent symbol on it, which, when hovering next to it, will bring up the prompt to start the mod quest.

The mod is seemingly going down well.

“This is the best level mod I’ve tried yet by far,” said one player. “It’s very professional, presents a decent challenge, and [is] super creative.”

It sounds like it’s most definitely worthy of your time, especially as Hogwarts Legacy 2 is yet to be announced.

It goes without saying that the mod is only available on PC, and you’ll need a working PC copy of Hogwarts Legacy.
