Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be one of the biggest video game announcements in recent years, but fans are still being kept waiting in the dark by Warner Bros. Games for now.
When Hogwarts Legacy arrived in February 2023, it instantly became one of the biggest games of that year, in what ended up being one of the greatest 12-month periods for video game releases in recent memory.
However, despite Hogwarts Legacy becoming the best-selling game of 2023 and even outselling Elden Ring in just five weeks, it still never picked up a single nomination at The Game Awards later that year, to the dismay of fans.
Game of the Year awards aside, given the fact that Hogwarts Legacy sold a ton of copies in 2023 and thereafter, it makes all the sense in the world that its publisher, Warner Bros. Games, would soon announce the sequel, right? To this day, that announcement still hasn't been made, but it could soon be about to change.

As brought to our attention by Comic Book, September 1 is a very important date, not only for the beginning of the school term in the UK but because it’s also the beginning of the term for the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
So, what better date than to announce Hogwarts Legacy 2 on September 1 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2? There probably isn't one.
Announcing Hogwarts Legacy 2 on this date is twofold. Firstly, as we just mentioned, it's the beginning of term for the pupils at Hogwarts Castle, and it would be a perfect date to begin something new for fans potentially waiting for the sequel.
Secondly, it also serves as the perfect time to not only begin the marketing campaign for Hogwarts Legacy 2, but it will also serve as a gentle reminder that the live-action Harry Potter reboot series is coming to HBO Max later this year on December 25.
Despite neither Warner Bros. Games nor Hogwarts Legacy developer, Avalanche Software, officially announcing the sequel, it has been teased before.
Sure, these “teases” have mostly come with job advertisements for the development studio based in Salt Lake City, Utah, but given that these job descriptions sound a lot like they could be Hogwarts Legacy 2, the eventual announcement would shock no one.
Plus, as we’ve already established, given the success of the 2023 launch, it makes no sense for Hogwarts Legacy 2 not to be released one day. It’s a case of when, rather than if.
As always, as soon as we hear any official announcement regarding Hogwarts Legacy 2, we’ll be sure to let you know right away. In the meantime, we can at least continue to enjoy the original game on modern platforms to keep us entertained.
