It’s possible to occasionally spot dragons within Hogwarts Legacy, flying high in the skies above you in the game’s open-world.
What you might not know is that you can actually spawn in a dragon encounter.
Just when we thought that Hogwarts Legacy’s well of secrets had well and truly been run dry amid a period of no post-launch updates and a total lack of a sequel, this is discovered.
The trick was found by the wife of Reddit user BC721, as spotted by ComicBook, who shared instructions on how you can spawn in a dragon at Feldcroft.
Feldcroft is a region in the centre of Hogwarts Legacy’s map, just slightly south of Hogwarts Castle itself.

“To spawn the dragon at Feldcroft, go to the Feldcroft [Floo], turn left, when you see the castle in front of you, go to the right hand side of it,” BC721 began.
“As you come around the castle, if there is a sheep or a cow on the ledge the dragon should spawn.
“Fly forward towards the Fwooper nest, you will find a single lone tree by some rocks.
“Touch down from your broom onto the path in front of the tree, [and] when you fly back up, the dragon should spawn in the south.”
They concluded by saying, “If you turn around and follow the dragon's flight path, you can catch it picking up the sheep or cow for lunch.”
You can watch a video tutorial of the discovery below.
“Wow, had no idea this was doable! How on earth did she figure that out?? Tell her she’s a genius,” replied TorandoSlayer.
“Wow, I haven’t seen one yet. Thanks to you and your wife, I’ll give it a try,” added Glittering_Estate_72.
“You can sometimes find the dragon resting on that ledge. If you come too close, they will fly away,” said lord_raganow with their own lesser-known tidbit.

It’s become quite an entertaining discussion point for Hogwarts Legacy players who, understandably, feel rather neglected as of late.
In the months leading up to June’s Summer Game Fest and its surrounding showcases, Hogwarts Legacy fans prepped themselves for the long-awaited announcement of the game’s sequel.
Warner Bros. previously teased that its biggest gaming franchises would return in 2027 and 2028, and they don’t get much bigger than Hogwarts Legacy.

The going theory was that a surprise (and quickly made) sequel would be announced during the summer showcase season ahead of an early 2027 launch, coinciding with the finale of HBO’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Clearly, that didn’t happen, throwing the entire theory into disarray. Outside of that 2027/2028 tease, there isn’t much to go on.
Hogwarts Legacy’s developer Avalanche Software did appoint a new community manager earlier this year.
That’s a role usually only filled when there’s a release to promote, so it looks likely that the franchise will rear its head in some capacity in the coming months.
Until then, we’re going to have to settle for scouring the original game’s map for as many final undiscovered scraps as we can possibly find.
