'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order' Sequel Teased In Respawn Job Listing

It would appear that Respawn Entertainment isn't done with Star Wars just yet. The Apex Legends/Titanfall developer put out the single-player Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order last month to strong reviews and even stronger sales. Clearly the people wanted a story driven Star Wars adventure game that they could play solo. But it's not like fans had been telling EA that for the last few years or anything, is it?

While Jedi: Fallen Order was undoubtedly a Very Good Game and a welcome break from online shooters, I think most of us can agree it wasn't perfect. For every exciting lightsaber duel or thrilling set-piece, there was the odd pesky bug or recycled idea, leaving some players with the feeling that they'd kind of seen it all before.

Regardless, Respawn established solid foundation from which to build on. The good news is that's exactly what the studio intends to do, if a new job listing is to be believed. As spotted by GamesRadar, Respawn is currently looking for a Senior Character Artist, Level Designer, and Senior Software Engineer to come and work on the "Star Wars Team".

The listing for Software Engineer reveals that EA and Respawn are on the hunt for someone who wants to help "create an incredible Star Wars experience" and who is "invigorated" by coding "third person action/adventure games".

There's every chance that these new job listings could simply be for some as-yet-unannounced DLC. But I'm more inclined to believe an entirely new game is on the cards - especially given how Jedi: Fallen Order left the door open for further adventures with Cal and the gang.

After all, EA has the Star Wars license for another four years yet (with the likely possibility of renewal), and the strong commercial reception to Jedi: Fallen Order will surely have encouraged the publisher to give Respawn the go-ahead on a sequel. Respawn Brand Strategy Director Charlie Houser recently told GamesRadar the studio would love to continue the story, so the team is clearly willing.

Elsewhere at EA, Motive Studios is cooking up a Star Wars game of its own. The EA-owned studio previously assisted on various projects, including two cancelled Star Wars games, but it was recently confirmed that the team has been given the lead on a new adaptation that's been described as a "very unique Star Wars experience".

What that means is anyone's guess at this point, but I'd hope Motive is able to salvage some of the open world elements that were ultimately abandoned when EA shut down both Project Ragtag and Orca earlier in the year.
