Nintendo has added a new batch of limited-time Super Mario freebies, perfect for Christmas.

Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions allow you to do more than just play online multiplayer. Free content like DLC and retro games are also available with your subscription, depending on the tier you’re on.

Another thing that Nintendo routinely gives away are icons based on the various properties it owns, with games like Mario, Zelda, and Kirby often getting new releases free for everyone to grab.

These icons can be claimed and added to your account, allowing you to feature them on your profile for other players to view.

Now, Nintendo has added a fresh batch of these limited-time freebies, allowing you to redeem and collect them just in time for Christmas.

As reported by NSO Icon Alerts on X (formerly Twitter), this new collection of icons are based on various Super Mario characters and designs.

From the icons available, these Mario designs are taken from games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario Odyssey, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

We have a few icons based on Mario himself, including alternative forms like Elephant Mario or Cappy possessing a Koopa Troopa. There are also icons for other Mario characters like Luigi, Bowser, and Toadette.

There are also some backgrounds and frames which also go quite well with these icons, offering different designs based on various Super Mario themes and characters.

How To Redeem And Claim These Icons On Nintendo Switch Or Nintendo Switch 2

If you want to pick up these new icons on your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 console, you have until 29 December to redeem them before Nintendo swaps them out for a fresh batch.

To redeem them, boot up your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, and then go to the Nintendo Switch Online app on the home screen.

From there, find “Missions & Rewards” and then you’ll see a screen that will allow you to download the icons.

You’ll need to make sure you have the right amount of Platinum Points, which can be earned from the Nintendo Switch Online app for doing various things in games accessed via the service.

Nintendo tends to change up these icons every week or so, therefore the next batch will be available next week on or around 29 December. These will be the last icons available for 2025, given that it’s two days before the new year begins.
