Avatar 4 Character Fate Seemingly Spoiled by Game's Latest DLC

Spoiler alert

DLC for Ubisoft’s Avatar game may have just spoiled the plot of the unreleased fourth film, leaving one of its character’s fates out in the open.

The Avatar buzz has returned to cinemas across the world as the third film, Avatar: Fire And Ash, is now available to watch. And if it wasn't clear, this absolutely contains spoilers for the movie and the future of the franchise.

Marvel fans will know all about it as the first teasers for Avengers: Doomsday have been shown prior to the film starting. The teasers focus on multiple characters who’ll appear in the film, including the return of Captain America and one for Thor.

Tying in with the new film is also a DLC expansion for the Avatar video game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Developed by Ubisoft the open-world Avatar game flew largely under the radar when it first launched though it does have its fans. It’s also fixing one of the biggest issues players had with the game, a lack of third-person mode.

Now the new DLC has seemingly confirmed one of the characters from Avatar: Fire And Ash, who was thought to be dead, is actually still alive.

In Avatar: Fire And Ash long–time rivals Jake Sully and Colonel Quaritch once again clash for Pandora and in a climactic battle Sully attempts to reconcile with his enemy and give peace a chance. Unfortunately Quaritch rejects this offer and throws himself into a fire, presumably killing him off. However film-goers know all of the tricks by now and until we see an actual body it’s hard to believe he’s really gone.

That’s where the DLC for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora comes in, as the credits feature a voice clip of Quaritch speaking with Major Bukowski, confirming that he’s still kicking.

Quaritch says "A little banshee told me we're down four of Varang's heavy hitters" before commanding Bukowski to remain on the Western Frontier while their forces regroup.

Like I said before because Quaritch’s body was never shown many assumed that he did somehow survive his fiery fate, this just confirms it.

He’ll presumably return in the fourth film, though James Cameron hasn’t confirmed whether one is actually being made as he wants to see how well the third film performs first. Fear not Avatar films if the sequel is scrapped Cameron has expressed interest in concluding the story in a novel, so the story will have an ending one way or another.
