Christmas has officially arrived in Los Santos as Grand Theft Auto Online hosts its festive event.

Alongside festive apparel, gifts, and more, Grand Theft Auto Online will also be welcoming the one feature that (some) fans look forward to each year.

Snow.

As of today (23 December), the streets of Los Santos and beyond will be glistening with pure white snow as is the custom this time of the year in Grand Theft Auto Online. Allowing players to engage in snowball fights and take some epic photographs, the snow has arrived.

For now, however, GTA Online players can look forward to trees and decorations popping up throughout San Andreas, as well as the arrival of some tasteful décor in your newly purchased mansions.

Alternatively, logging onto GTA Online from 23 December to 7 January will see you able to earn an assortment of holiday goodies, including the Season’s Greetings Sweater, New Year Fireworks Bodysuit, Snowball Launcher, Candy Cane, Firework Launcher with 20 Rockets, plus refills of snacks, armour, and ammo.

However, despite all of the festivities, some players are unhappy with one feature.

GTA Online Gamers Want More, Stop Scroogin' Around Rockstar

And yes, we are heading back to the white stuff that falls from the sky.

That is because it is expected that the snow will only be available in Grand Theft Auto Online for around six days. Previously, snow has been available until the new year but with some fans complaining of unsafe driving conditions (hello, it’s Grand Theft Auto?), Rockstar cut the time in half.

“It’s rather sad that the snow will only be for 6 days this year. Not even a whole week.

Then we’re back to stupid rain for 12 months,” one user recently shared over on r/gtaonline.

“Petition to let you choose weather in invite-only lobbies,” another user commented.

“That sucks, I have to go to work tomorrow and I’ll be gone for two weeks,” another added.

“Guess I’ll miss it this year.”

Although some mods exist that add a perma-mode for snow, they do not include full scripts or the ability for snowball fights which some would say is the best part of the winter event.

Hopefully Rockstar will take note and bring snow to Vice City and beyond in the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto Online but for now, you had better make the most of those snowy conditions before they are removed for another year.
