The PlayStation 5 version of Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut is currently being review bombed on Metacritic. Hundreds of disgruntled gamers have taken to to the reviews aggregator to share their feelings about the fact Sony is charging for the upgraded port of Sucker Punch's 2020 game.
Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut was released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 last week, bringing with it a slew of enhancements for the new-gen console, and a new story expansion that takes place on Iki Island. The PlayStation 5 version of the game offers a number of upgrades, including DualSense specific features like 3D audio and faster loading times, as well as lip-sync for English and Japanese voiceover.

In my own review of Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut, I praised the new DualSense features and said that the PS5 version was the best way to experience 2020's gorgeous samurai adventure. Unfortunately, a rather convoluted upgrade path has left a lot of fans angry and confused.

If you already own the game on PlayStation 4, you're looking at £25 to upgrade to Director's Cut on PlayStation 5. When you consider that most of the PS5 upgrades so far have been made available for free, there are those who are arguing locking away PS5-specific features behind a "paywall" isn't very consumer friendly.
At the time of writing, Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut has an average user score of 6.3 based on 570 ratings, 205 of which are negative. Compare this to the original PlayStation 4 version of the game, which boasts a user score of 9.1 from nearly 20,000 ratings - only 868 of which are negative.
"It is madness that the PS5 upgrade is locked behind a double paywall," one user writers in a 0/10 review. "First, you have to buy the DLC, and then you have to buy the upgrade. That's beside the fact that the upgrade almost does not improve anything in the game. Sony is losing customers and causing bad PR by trying to squeeze all the cash out of people who like Sony games."

As with most review bombs, there are some completely futile arguments mixed in with what I would totally agree with as valid criticisms. I'm not Sony should be charging quite so much for the upgrade either! But a screechy 0/10 review doesn't quite get the point across very well... especially when you're arguing that the upgraded version has worse graphics or the DLC can be beat in under an hour, neither of which is true.
