Thanks to the success of the Prime Video Fallout show, Fallout 4 has had something of a resurgence in the past year but a lack of updates from Bethesda has left fans feeling frustrated.

First released back in 2015 and soon to be celebrating its 10-year anniversary later this year, Fallout 4 is the latest mainline entry in the much-loved Bethesda RPG series.

Although not considered the best entry by any means, Fallout 4 has still been widely appreciated over the years, especially following the success of the television show with the same name.

However, with a lack of updates and Fallout 5 not expected to be released any time soon, fans are starting to feel frustrated.

This was evident following a short discussion over on r/f04 late last month when one user asked, “did we get another update?”

“I've been getting back into Fallout 4 after the start of the year, and I feel like I've noticed slight changes with the game that couldn't have been caused by any mods because I don't use any. Some convenient and some just there.”

According to user MonsieurNipNop, the most recent Fallout 4 patch was back in May but that consisted of very minor changes.

For a fellow user, they had a feeling a patch had gone live without even needing to check.

“Yeah, like two weeks ago now. It reset all my settings and my HUD was green again, that’s how I knew,” they shared.

The most recent major update for Fallout 4 was way back in April 2024 where performance and quality improvements were implemented across all platforms.

However, Bethesda has only implemented minor changes since then so it is no wonder that fans are eager for a shred of new content.

Luckily, the studio is still regularly adding new and exciting content to Fallout 76 but that might be all we will get until Fallout 5 is released some time in the future.
