Fallout 4 Drops Free December Update, Season 2 Launch Bonus

Amazing that it's still being supported

Bethesda has updated Fallout 4 this month, just in time for the premiere of Fallout Season 2 on Prime Video.

But don’t get too excited. As much as I’d love to say Bethesda has dropped a recreation of Fallout: New Vegas’ map in Fallout 4, we’re not that lucky.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more New Vegas-adjacent content added to the game since the iconic video game location has returned for the live-action show’s second season.

Anyway, the actual update is less exciting but sorely needed, as it fixes a variety of issues brought on by the Anniversary Edition update. Aside from butchering loads of mods it also released a swarm of bugs into the game, which the developers have been slowly but surely removing as time goes on.

Creation Club has seen an overhaul that fixes issues regarding the saving and loading of mod selections, so that should hopefully make it easier to both access and enable the mods you want to spice your game up with.

One of the biggest improvements made is for UI. I’m a big believer in cohesive UI in games and I’m going to be honest it’s never been Bethesda’s strong suit.

While it’s not perfect it’s at least better than it was, as there’s now improved visibility, less overlap, and for those who play on handheld devices like the Steam Deck you should hopefully be able to see things clearer.

Other improvements are a little more standard, with fixes to stability issues and the prevention of crashes. The day I play a Bethesda game with a zero percent chance of crashing will be a monumental day indeed.

I won’t bore you with the full list of changes/improvements but if there’s a specific issue you’ve encountered that you’re hoping has been fixed you can find everything the update has brought on Bethesda’s official channels.

As it stands Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition still isn’t the definitive version of the game that Bethesda promised, but it’s getting there. It’s worth noting that if you’re playing on PC you can at least revert your game back to what it was before, which many have been doing to prevent their mods from being corrupted.

Aside from this it’s a big week for Fallout fans as the first couple episodes of Fallout Season 2 are now available, as we can’t wait to see what else is in store for Lucy, Maximus and The Ghoul as the season progresses.
