Bethesda has celebrated the ten-year anniversary of Fallout 4 by releasing a brand-new edition complete with DLC and heaps of fan-made content.

It is hard to believe that it has been a decade since Fallout 4 was first released and even harder to believe that that was the last time that we received a mainline Fallout entry. Nevertheless, it seems as though Bethesda wanted to celebrate the impressive milestone and what better way to celebrate than by making more money?

That is why on 10 November with the release of Fallout 4: The Anniversary Edition.

“Over the years, millions of vault dwellers have built settlements, battled Super Mutants, discovered hidden stories and forged their paths in the ruins of Boston,” the official Bethesda blog post reads. “Now, the definitive Fallout 4 experience is available with the launch of the Anniversary Edition.”

Arriving alongside the base game, this brand-new edition also comes with six official add-ons, and over 150 pieces of Creation Club content.

Allowing previous Fallout 4 fans to purchase content they already have access to but being the perfect edition for newcomers, it seems as though the Fallout 4: The Anniversary Edition is already having a few teething problems.

Much like the release of 2018’s Fallout 76, Fallout 4: The Anniversary Edition has launched in a less than smooth state, with many players reporting bugs, glitches, and outright crashes across social media.

“Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition everyone!” One user shared on Twitter, alongside a video showcasing assets not loading in, stuttering and: “It crashed.”

With crashes mostly reported for PlayStation 5 and PC, it seems as though Bethesda has some work to do to keep up with disgruntled fans.

So much so that one user took to r/Fallout to share their own version of the brand-new Fallout 4 cover art.

“I fixed Xbox’s post,” they shared, alongside an edited version stating “Everybody hated that” in regards to the new edition.

Bethesda has a lot of work to do

As a result, plenty of players came forward with their own opinions.

“It's crazy to me how much I used to like Bethesda and how they've done such a detailed job of betraying everything I enjoyed about them,” the top comment read.

Another agreed, adding, “I updated and downloaded the cool stuff... now the game won't even start.

Awesome.”

Launching at almost the same price as a brand-new AAA game, being unplayable for many and not even being included on Xbox Game Pass has solidified Fallout 4: The Anniversary Edition as a certified flop.

But who knows? Maybe Bethesda can turn it around in the future.
