The Elder Scrolls 6 can step back, a huge Morrowind remake is available now

Relive a classic

As the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 becomes more tiresome, we luckily have a few remakes and fan projects to keep us occupied.

Earlier this year we were treated to the rather terrific The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and later on in 2025 we’ll also get Skyblivion, the remake of Oblivion inside Skyrim.

For the Morrowind fans, there are projects like Morroblivion and Skywind which aim to bring the game into newer engines, but there’s another project worth keeping your eyes on, too.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Rebirth is an overhaul of the classic RPG, which adds new weapons, armour, items, and more details to the game. It also fixes plenty of bugs and makes the game a little more playable by 2025 standards.

Because let’s face it, as great as Morrowind is, there’s a lot about it that has aged rather poorly that could be fixed quite easily with patches and mods.

The mod doesn’t completely change everything, but rather makes enough changes to still feel close to the original experience.

Morrowind Rebirth 6.0 - ModDB

Mod creator trancemaster_1988 has released a new update for Morrowind Rebirth, which fixes hundreds of floating or partially underground wickwheat plants in the Grazelands region.

It also fixes various bugs relating to armour and enchantments, as well as issues with quests.

In terms of new features, the mod's latest patch makes guards inside shops less static, making it less frustrating to play as a thief. More clutter has been added to various locations too, and layouts of certain towns tweaked slightly to appear more natural and less boxy.

You can download Morrowind Rebirth from its official page on ModDB.

Obviously, you’ll need a PC copy of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to play it, but installation should be rather simple as long as you follow the instructions.
