Fans are feeling cautiously optimistic with regards to The Elder Scrolls VI’s graphics; I’m not sure I can join them though.

I adored Starfield and awarded it a perhaps controversial score of 10.

The playground that Bethesda created is vastly underrated, if you ask me. Starfield’s world feels limitless, creating an exciting boundaryless magic found in very few other titles.

It was a game built around innovation and for me, that’s what a 10 out of 10 title is.

In those cases, I can overlook tiny gripes and for Starfield, my main gripe concerned its graphics.

Starfield’s concept and the execution of that concept felt new and innovative, as I mentioned, but its graphics often felt stuck in the previous generation.

The Creation Engine 2 doesn’t yield bad results, and Starfield certainly looked more impressive than Fallout 4.

The engine still has a slight phonyness to it though that I’d really love to see ironed out when it comes to The Elder Scrolls VI.

Perhaps I’m being too harsh though, as it’s the quality of Starfield’s NPCs that is leaving fans feeling hopeful.

“What NPCs in TESVI will ACTUALLY look like. Just as a reminder - these are Starfield NPCs with max settings. The only mods I've used in these screenshots are clothing mods,” wrote Reddit user PotatoEatingHistory.

It goes without saying that this is what The Elder Scrolls VI’s NPCs could look like, not will.

“Starfield looks good imo. I know people like to shit on the Creation Engine, but I don't think it's bad at all,” replied Moddy123.

“I assume they'll look quite a bit better. Like going from Fallout 4 to Starfield,” BilboniusBagginius added.

I did say ‘cautiously optimistic’. Some fans share my concern over Starfield’s visuals.

“Appearances are fine but they really really need to work on character animations,” wrote CharityAutomatic8687.

“I don’t really like the dead eyes staring at my soul from Starfield NPCs, hopefully they improve that,” One-Sir6312 agreed

Let’s just all cross our fingers that Bethesda is cooking up something magic that fulfils all of our hopes.
