Thanks to a record-low Steam price and skyrocketing player count, a second DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 looks to be on the cards. Come on, CD Projekt Red, make our day.
Cyberpunk 2077’s original roadmap said several free DLCs would be released over the course of the game’s life, with many dropping before the game’s next-gen upgrade.
Unfortunately, the game’s dire launch threw a spanner in the works, and the bulk of CD Projekt RED's efforts had to go into fixing the game instead.
In the end, Cyberpunk 2077 received a few quality-of-life updates and just one major DLC expansion, Phantom Liberty. However, a second expansion is looking more and more likely.
Despite launching nearly six years ago, Cyberpunk 2077 still has a strong playerbase today. In the last 24 hours, the game spiked to over 100,000 players.

Recent collaborations with games like Wuthering Waves and the impending release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 are partly responsible for its bolstered player count.

The latest Steam sale has helped too. Right now, you can grab a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 at the record-low price of $17.99/£14.99.
All of this has culminated in the belief that a second DLC expansion is more than possible. Cyberpunk 2077 has defied all odds and become one of the most-beloved RPGs of all time, even though on launch day it was anything but.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility either. CD Projekt Red announced a brand-new DLC for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt not too long ago.

Song of the Past will be the first expansion the game has received since 2016’s Blood and Wine.
A game receiving new DLC over 10 years after launch is unheard of, and while it’s likely being released to bridge the gap between The Witcher III and The Witcher IV, it’s still a remarkable development.
If CD Projekt Red can make a new expansion for The Witcher III though, it can definitely make one for Cyberpunk 2077 later down the line.
The game is just as popular as the studio’s open-world fantasy series, and it feels like there are so many stories left to tell in Night City.
Unfortunately, if there is to be a second expansion, it won’t be developed or released anytime soon.
If CD Projekt RED plans to make another, it’ll likely be greenlit after The Witcher IV launches, when full-scale development on Cyberpunk 2 begins.
Whether a second DLC will simply be its own spin-off storyline or tie into the events of Cyberpunk 2 is anyone’s guess. We’ll have to wait and see what relevance Song of the Past has to The Witcher IV to speculate further.
From what we’ve heard so far though, it sounds like Geralt’s last hurrah will lead into Ciri’s new quest in the following game.
