Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand is one of gaming’s greatest casting decisions and it seems as though the creator of Cyberpunk himself agrees.

Legendary roleplaying, board game and video game designer Mike Pondsmith recently teamed up with CD Projekt RED’s Amelia Korzycka and Laura Beitzel to discuss all things Cyberpunk 2077 just last week.

As the creator of the much-loved board game which inspired Cyberpunk 2077, Pondsmith is the brains behind the hit 2020 RPG, and he took this time to shed light on all of his inspiration as well as praising the studio for creating such an incredible video game as a result.

However, it was one Cyberpunk 2077 character which Pondsmith also had a lot of praise for and you can probably guess who.

Yep, none other than Keanu Reeves himself. Taking on the role of anarchist rocker boy Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, Keanu Reeves is still praised for his performance to this day.

Not only that but with Reeves previously stating that he loved the role and would be eager to return in the future, it seems as though Pondsmith agrees.

If you are yet to play Cyberpunk 2077, I would be aware of spoilers here but it is safe to say that Silverhand’s journey has come to an end as the story stands. However, that mere fact has not put off Pondsmith.

After claiming that “the nicest guy on Earth is playing an incredible jerk”, the Cyberpunk creator had the following to say about Johnny’s potential return:

"Not that long ago, I saw that [Keanu Reeves] would like to find a way to come back from the dead, and play Johnny again."

After looking at the camera, he adds, "I have ways to do that, Keanu. Contact me."

Could Johnny Silverhand return in Cyberpunk 2?

If anybody could achieve it, it is Pondsmith himself so could we see Johnny Silverhand return in Cyberpunk 2?

With the sequel now in active development, it may not be long until we find out.

Maybe Johnny will make a small cameo or Cyberpunk 2 could act as a prequel and show us more of his early days as a rocker. The options are endless.

For now, we will just have to wait and see but there is no doubt that CD Projekt RED still has some tricks up its sleeve so who will we see join the likes of Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba in the highly anticipated sequel?
