After years of waiting, the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is back again with another thrilling story set in Night City.
From mediocre beginnings to a masterful recovery, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of CD Projekt Red’s most humbling projects, so much so that it actually impacted the way the studio is developing The Witcher IV.
It’s all in the past now though. Let’s look to the future, which is looking extraordinarily bright following a fresh new trailer.
Today, June 29, fans got their first, extended look at Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2, the long-awaited sequel series to the 2022 Netflix show.
Despite sharing the same name, Season 2 will not be a narrative sequel to the first season. It’ll tell a new story with a new cast but still set in neon-lit confines of Night City. However, the cast of the first season recently got a heartwarming send-off in the last place you’d expect.

The first trailer gave us a closer look at Weak Kingsley, D, Roman Carax and Talia Yang. Place your bets now as to who will make it out of the new season alive…
As expected the animation is on point. We don’t know what they’re feeding the animators over at Studio Trigger but we implore them to keep it. Night City hasn’t looked this good since, well, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
You can catch the full trailer yourself below, and the full 10-episode series will debut later this year on Netflix and Crunchyroll.
New crew. New story. Same Night City.

Prior to the trailer the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners team shared a little more about what to expect from this new colorful cast of characters.
Weak Kingsley is described as "a veteran Edgerunner who now lives in the shadow of his former glory”.
D’s description is a little more boring, as they’re simply a “Snake Nation netrunner who hunts the killer that wiped out his clan".
Talia Yang is basically V if you chose Corpo beginnings in Cyberpunk 2077, and she’s said to have quite a destructive streak as she loves “chrome and violence”.
The character that’s already got fans guessing however is Roman Carax. Roman is a “young cinephile” who’s apparently “obsessed with documenting the truth and following the lives of other people".
Many are already speculating that Roman won’t be surviving until the end of the season, especially with a company as secretive as Arasaka in control.
At first glance, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners looks like more of what fans loved about the first season.
There will, of course, be those that want to see continuations of the previous casts’ story but in a setting as grandiose as Night City it only feels right to have some new faces take the spotlight.
We’re excited to see more when Season 2 drops later this year. Just don’t expect it to give away any plans for Cyberpunk 2.
