CD Projekt Red did an admirable job turning around the proverbial ship for Cyberpunk 2077, after a disastrous launch had every chance of consigning the game to the scrap heap of projects that could have been brilliant.
Fortunately they didn't give up on it and continue to roll out patches, updates and even an excellent DLC that turned Cyberpunk 2077 into one of the best gaming packages of the last decade or more.
With the sequel in active development right now you'd be forgiven for thinking that Cyberpunk 2077 is now a game of the past, but it seems a new hint from the developer could suggest an update is on the way that marks the fifth anniversary of its release.

Cyberpunk Devs Tease 5th Anniversary Update
Over on Twitter/X, the official Cyberpunk 2077 page shared a cryptic post that could hint at the future, if you're will to look into the details a little bit.
Advert
"SECURE COMMS CHANNEL ESTABLISHED. STANDBY FOR INCOMING PRIORITY TRANSMISSION… CYBERPUNK 2077 — 10.12. REED, SOLOMON — 12.12. SONG, SO MI — 29.12. END OF TRANSMISSION," the post read.
The post also features a calendar displaying those three "events", with a general entry for the game on 10 December and specific entries for major characters Solomon Reed and Songbird, on the 12 and 29 December respectively.
Helpfully, there is no other context provided, so we'll have to sit tight and wait for those dates to find out exactly what they mean, but the general game entry on 10 December is most likely the one to look out for moving forward, as it lines up perfectly with the game's fifth anniversary.
The best guess right now is that we will get more news about the highly anticipated update 2.4 on that date, with little else in the pipeline that it could feasibly be.
The game also recently celebrated the frankly bonkers milestone of 35 million copies sold, so there could also possibly be a connection to that landmark.
CD Projekt Red has also started to update players on their progress on other games at the moment, and it's a very exciting time if you're a fan of the dev.
The big news is that they are planning to release an entirely new Witcher trilogy in the span of just six years, which will be a mightily impressive achievement if they can pull it off.
The Cyberpunk sequel is also well underway, though expect that to arrive at some point after The Witcher 4.
