Cyberpunk 2 pushed to 2030s as new sci-fi RPG will offer perfect fix for now

If the wait for Cyberpunk 2 is already feeling agonising, there’s an upcoming sci-fi RPG you’ll want to keep on your radar.

Featuring the immersive worlds and open-ended gameplay that made Cyberpunk 2077 such a hit, this new RPG could be the perfect game to play while we wait for CD Projekt RED’s next sci-fi adventure.

When it comes to creating RPGs that remain popular for years, CD Projekt RED knows exactly what it’s doing. Just look at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. More than a decade after its release, the acclaimed RPG continues to attract players, while a free remaster is also set to arrive later this year, proving just how much staying power CD Projekt RED’s games can have.

Can’t wait for Cyberpunk 2? No Law could be the perfect Sci-Fi RPG fix

The new sci-fi RPG in question is No Law, developed by Neon Giant and published by Krafton, Inc. If that publisher's name sounds familiar, there's a good reason. Krafton is also behind the hugely successful battle royale shooter PUBG: Battlegrounds.

“Welcome to Port Desire, a city that doesn't belong to anyone, but where everyone wants a piece. You’re Grey Harker, an ex-military attempting to live a quiet life after near-fatal injuries in the field. All you want now is peace - but in a city of no laws, what you want isn’t always what you get,” reads the synopsis of No Law.

No Law is a first-person open-world RPG, making the upcoming sci-fi game an obvious choice for fans of Cyberpunk 2077. It will feature plenty of explosive action, alongside stealth, hacking and a host of other gameplay mechanics designed to give players freedom in how they approach each situation.

Following its recent Gamescom trailer, No Law looks like it could stand firmly on its own rather than simply being a Cyberpunk 2077-inspired experience. With its ambitious open-world, first-person gameplay and futuristic setting, it could be one of 2027’s most promising sci-fi RPGs.

Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4 release dates: When will they launch?

At the time of writing, Cyberpunk 2 has no confirmed release date, with some estimates suggesting CD Projekt RED’s highly anticipated sequel could arrive as late as 2030 and beyond.

That's because of The Witcher 4 which has now locked in a 2028 launch window. CD Projekt RED likes to space its releases a good few years apart, hence why there's no way a Cyberpunk sequel can land before 2030.

Thankfully, there’s still plenty to enjoy from CD Projekt RED in the meantime. Cyberpunk 2077 remains a fantastic sci-fi RPG, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also set to receive a new remaster alongside an all-new expansion, ‘Songs of the Past’. The expansion received its first trailer this week at Gamescom and releases next year.

As for No Law, the upcoming sci-fi RPG doesn't have a confirmed release date just yet, but it is currently expected to launch sometime in 2027. That puts it considerably ahead of both upcoming CD Projekt RED titles The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, assuming development stays on track.

No Law will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
