No, this is not a drill or a free mod; this is a brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, 11 years after its original release. Praise be!
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is widely considered to be one of the greatest games of all time. So great in fact, that despite being the third entry in the series, this was many fans' introduction to the CD Projekt RED RPG, the creators of Cyberpunk 2077.
Starring the returning Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher 3 was universally praised for its challenging and strategic combat, fantastic campaign and side missions, its enticing sense of adventure and its gorgeous visuals that still hold up today.
Following its release in 2015, The Witcher 3 fans were treated to two amazing expansions with Hearts of Stone (2015), as well as Blood and Wine (2016). These campaigns were so enriched with new content that they could have easily been two standalone releases.

“Medallion's humming... that can only mean one thing! It's time to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past!” tweeted the official Twitter account for The Witcher, announcing the new expansion. “This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more.”

This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more. It’s being co-developed with @Fools_Theory… pic.twitter.com/rrcPXppgdc
As stated in the tweet, this expansion is being co-developed between CD Projekt RED and Fools Theory, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2027. Sadly, it won’t be available for the last-gen version of the game or the Nintendo Switch.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fools Theory, this is the studio that’s developing the upcoming remake of the original 2007 The Witcher, powered by Unreal Engine 5.
"HOLY S***!!! This is going to be incredible! So glad I replayed the game this year now, 2027 is so far though," exclaimed SynthPotato, responding to the tweet.

"This just saved my 2026," declared luscielia.
No further details were provided on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past, but hopefully, we’ll be treated to some juicy gameplay in the coming months. And when that drops, we’ll be sure to let you know.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. As for The Witcher 4, while it doesn't have a release date yet, it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2027 or 2028.
