If I had a penny for every time Lucasfilm ripped Darth Plagueis’ backstory from me, I’d have two pennies.
You know the meme; that isn’t a lot but it’s weird (and annoying) that it happened twice.
"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?” Emperor Palpatine once asked Anakin.

Well no actually because Lucasfilm keeps denying us of it.
As I’m sure you’re aware, Darth Plagueis’ backstory was intended to be explored in last year’s The Acolyte.
The series revealed the elusive Sith Lord in the flesh in a live-action setting for the very first time, watching over his apprentice Qimir.
It was heavily implied that Plagueis would’ve been featured more in a subsequent second season but, of course, Disney cancelled the series.

It’s a decision that bothers me to this day, and I really thought a u-turn renewal was going to arrive during the recent Star Wars Celebration.
It’s not the only time Plagueis’ tale almost got told though.
ICYMI: Andor’s second season is now airing weekly.
Palpatine himself Ian McDiarmid has confirmed that a Palpatine series was once also in development and this too would have examined the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise.

Lucasfilm, you’ve got to stop doing this to us.
In a recent interview with Variety, McDiarmid spoke on what he knew of the series’ plotline.
“Just the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise,” he replied.
“It’s fairly obvious that my character murdered Plagueis on his road to becoming Palpatine. But beyond that, no. With George, you didn’t discuss anything really. You turn up and you shoot. These films take a long time to make and the pressure is intense for many reasons; of course, George was at the forefront of all of that.”

“So he had all of that to think about day by day. He takes a good deal of trouble over casting; but, once he’s cast, then he likes the actors to get on with it,” he continued.
I’m not the only person who’s furious that this tale has been ripped from us twice.
“WTF,” wrote Twitter user CowBear99.
Look, I have a solution.

For next year’s Star Wars Day, Lucasfilm should drop Tales of the Sith and give us a Plagueis episode and finally put us out of our misery.
I will add that a Plagueis-centric novel does exist, Darth Plagueis by James Luceno, but it’s not considered canon.
