Cyberpunk 2077 overcame its initial troubles to become one of the best open-world RPGs ever made.
CD Projekt Red has proven time and time again that it can make a great RPG game and we’re excited to see what the studio is cooking up for The Witcher IV, though it’s unfortunately still a long way off from launching.
In addition to the next Witcher game, CD Projekt Red is also in the early planning stages for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
For those who simply can’t wait that long for a return to the Night City, mark your calendars for this July.
Cyberpunk fans will undoubtedly be familiar with the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime, a show that was originally envisioned to be a one-and-done but due to overwhelming support from viewers, a second season was greenlit.

The sequel series will not be a continuation of the first season but rather a brand-new story set in the same world.
No teaser or trailer exists just yet but you’ll be getting one in July when it gets its official first look at AnimeExpo 2026.
A post from the official Cyberpunk Edgerunners X account read: “Join us for a first look at the next standalone story from Night City, plus a behind-the-scenes discussion with the creators bringing it to life.
“Hosted by Danny Motta, featuring Director Kai Ikarashi, Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor, Executive Producer Saya Elder, and special guests.”
Season 2 will once again be animated by Studio Trigger and will feature 10 whole episodes.

It’s exciting stuff but we’re not expecting it to connect to any of the storylines seen in the game, nor tease the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 either.
We’re also not expecting this to lead to a third season. The Edgerunners anime feels like it’s already running on borrowed time and this second season feels more like a bonus rather than another step on a long road ahead.
What we are expecting is another soul-destroying animated adventure that leaves us sad and hopeless for another few months…
The story of Cyberpunk Edgerunners featured the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. It also completely changed the way fans perceived one of the Cyberpunk 2077 antagonists, Adam Smasher, though no spoilers in case you haven’t seen it.
The success of the series even led to several crossovers with other games, such as Wuthering Waves, which now features the Edgerunners characters Lucy, Rebecca, and David as playable characters. An Adam Smasher boss fight was also added.
Again, we’re not expecting any of these characters to reappear in Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2, though we’d love to see a Johnny Silverhand cameo if Keanu Reeves is willing to provide a little voice acting for it.
