A Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is in early development at CD Projekt Red, but in the meantime, fans have to grab onto whatever scraps are flung their way in terms of new content.
Fortunately, there’s quite a bit from board games to partnered collabs, the latest of which is literally months in the making.
The infamous Cyberpunk 2077 antagonist Adam Smasher has made his horrifying return and depending on your platform of choice, those who own a copy of the game will be able to claim a freebie.
There’s this fun battle-royale game out right now that you can play for free. You might have heard of it but it’s quite niche, so maybe not. It’s called Fortnite.
All jokes aside, Fortnite has placed its grubby mitts on just about every IP going from Star Wars to God of War, to Kill Bill. The list goes on.

While it’s already collaborated with Cyberpunk 2077, the roster of skins was limited to Johnny Silverhand and the female version of V, but Adam Smasher was said to be coming later.
Months passed and there was no sign of him, and it was quickly speculated that his release was delayed around the same time Epic Games laid off hundreds of Fortnite staff. Releasing the inhuman muscle of a corrupt organisation hellbent on maintaining profits as a skin would have probably been perceived badly.
No one has forgotten that but they have moved on, and now Adam Smasher has his own official Fortnite skin.
Now you can purchase the skin with V-Bucks but those who own a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 on PC might be able to grab it for free.
Those who bought Cyberpunk 2077 through the Epic Games Store will automatically get Smasher added to their locker, much like how they got the Grace Ashcroft skin when purchasing Resident Evil Requiem via Epic Games.
It’s a neat freebie though probably not one many users are going to be taking advantage of. Even Epic Games itself has acknowledged how most games only visit the storefront to claim any free games currently on other sites before retreating to Steam. We can’t blame them, Steam has its fair share of freebies too.
Those who did purchase Cyberpunk 2077 on the Epic Games Store can enjoy their free skin though, perhaps for a limited time, as we’re sure the next collaboration is right around the corner.
As for official projects starring Adam Smasher, fans are probably out of luck. He returned in the Cyberpunk Edgerunners prequel anime but as all players will know, he’s killed by the end of your playthrough. It’s unlikely he’ll be resurrected for the sequel but stranger things have happened in the world of Cyberpunk, so who knows.
