Talented modders have released a game-changing Cyberpunk 2077 mod that completely transforms how you play CD Projekt RED’s popular sci-fi RPG, adding head tracking for a more immersive first-person experience.
Despite its troubled launch in 2020, CD Projekt RED has spent the years since exceeding expectations by delivering on its promises and going above and beyond to make Cyberpunk 2077 one of the best sci-fi RPGs of all time.
Over the years, Cyberpunk 2077 has benefited from a wealth of content updates, extending far beyond simple bug fixes. Its visuals, gameplay, missions, and overall experience have evolved significantly over the past six years.
What's more, following in the footsteps of Skyrim, the game's dedicated modding community means there's a good chance Cyberpunk 2077 will continue to improve for years to come.
How does the Cyberpunk 2077 head tracking mod work?
“Flat-screen head tracking for Cyberpunk 2077. Use a webcam, phone, or any OpenTrack-compatible tracker to look around Night City by moving your head while your aim stays on the mouse or controller,” reads the description of the mod.

What’s particularly impressive about this Cyberpunk 2077 mod is that you don't need a VR headset for it to work. After watching some of the gameplay footage, it would be understandable to assume that a VR headset is required, especially given how naturally the camera responds to movement. It’s an impressive effect that makes the game feel considerably more immersive.
Thanks to 6DOF tracking, you can lean, peek, and duck your head rather than simply rotating the camera. You can even use the mod while driving, allowing you to look around your surroundings more naturally as you explore Night City.
It’s also worth noting that aiming remains independent of head tracking. Whether you're using a controller or mouse, you can freely look around while keeping your weapon aimed at a target, giving you greater control during combat and making Cyberpunk 2077's first-person gameplay feel more dynamic.
Is the Cyberpunk 2077 head tracking mod available on consoles?
Sadly, not. Unlike The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077 does not offer community mod support on consoles, meaning its extensive mod library remains PC-exclusive.
That said, console players still have plenty to enjoy. Following the release of the critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion and years of major updates from CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077 has evolved considerably since launch, leaving PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players with little reason to feel short-changed.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
