Development on CyberMP, the fan-made multiplayer mod for Cyberpunk 2077, seems to be coming along well if a new short video is to be believed.
CyberMP is a mod that we reported on last year after seeing a few short glimpses of what multiplayer within Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City would look like.
Although the project was still early on, its developers seemed keen to keep working at it, coming up with some bright ideas to keep the project fresh and exciting.
A new video uploaded to the CyberMP YouTube channel has demonstrated the multiplayer mod in action, showing a series of clips taken from a recent playtest session in which around ten users or so were playing together in the same game instance.

We first get to see all the players gathered together in the Eastern Badlands part of the map overlooking Night City, before the video cuts to a race in the city in which every player is competing against each other.
After that, we see clips of players sharing a four-seat vehicle together, followed by the entire server gathered in Lizzie’s Bar, and then a bunch of players racing in vehicles across the bridge.
The video ends with a demonstration of what combat looks like, showing players using grenades to blow each other up.

Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mod CyberMP is going to be massive for the game's community
On the whole, it looks like the mod is coming along nicely. While there are still a few parts that are rough around the edges, it seems like the mod functions pretty well when under a heavy server load.
There are still some glitches, but on the whole it seems that the CyberMP team’s stress test went successfully.
“As you know, we recently held our second semi-open test — we selected testers from applications and ran testing for 2 days!” reads a message on the CyberMP Discord server.
According to the team, the peak number of concurrent players on the same server reached 66 people, a new record for them. However, this also led to the server becoming increasingly unstable as more players flooded in.
This was all intentional though, as it allowed the developers to identify any causes of these errors and fix them in the future to support a much larger number of connections. It also stated that the server was stable at around 30 to 40 concurrent players.
As it stands, the mod is still undergoing a few tests before it sees a public release. And given that Cyberpunk 2077 was never originally intended to have online multiplayer, we’d say it’s a pretty fantastic accomplishment for CyberMP to get this far.
