'50 Cent: Blood On The Sand' Is Coming To Modern Consoles

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Xbox has announced the last batch of Xbox 360 and original Xbox games for the backwards compatibility program. 

While it’s sad to see such a popular program finally come to a close, this last drop is also the biggest one yet: over 70 classic games can now be played on Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S consoles, and 11 of those have been enhanced with an impressive FPS boost. Very nice. 

"While we continue to stay focused on preserving and enhancing the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints," Peggy Lo, Xbox’s compatibility program lead explained. "Thank you for being part of this journey with us."

While there are a ton of incredible new old games to get excited about, the one that’s really dominated the conversation so far is none other than 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand. 

For those who might not know, Blood On The Sand was a very real third-person shooter that launched in 2009. The plot, and I promise I’m not making this up, involves 50 Cent and G-Unit fighting thieves in the Middle East to retrieve a diamond-encrusted skull. It received mixed reviews at the time and was ultimately deemed a commercial flop, but clearly it’s managed to pick up a cult following over the years. 

“IT'S 50 CENT MUTHAF***A!” wrote one user on the Xbox subreddit. “Classic game. So much fun for a Gears knockoff.”

“This 50 cent game is actually fun as hell,” agreed another. “I’d recommend anyone try it out. It has a dedicated button for saying insults.”

On the off-chance you’re not actually interested in replaying a decade-old 50 Cent game, there’s still plenty of other titles to get excited about. Other highlights include TimeSplitters 2, F.E.A.R, Manhunt, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Revolver. Some real bangers in there, to be sure.
