Red Dead Redemption 2 fans can download a huge free, fan-made bounty hunting expansion that introduces 19 new outlaws, giving our beloved Arthur Morgan a run for his money in a series of new adventures.
The launch of GTA VI finally arrives this month, and with such a highly anticipated game on the horizon, it might be easy to forget about Rockstar Games' other legendary hit, Red Dead Redemption 2, originally released in 2018 on consoles before arriving on PC the following year.
Unfortunately for PC gamers, Rockstar Games hasn't announced when the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series will arrive on the platform, but we're sure it'll happen eventually. However, PC gamers can boast something that most console players don't have access to, and that's the wonderful modding community.
Red Dead Redemption 2's free bounty hunting expansion adds 19 new outlaws
The mod that is the topic of this article is âShaunâs Bounty Hunterâ, created by shaun9797, and itâs free to download right now via Nexus Mods. This mod was uploaded on October 27, 2026, and just days later, it received new updates. With that in mind, hopefully this mod will grow and improve even more over time.

That being said, whatâs already included in âShawnâs Bounty Hunterâ mod enhances your Red Dead Redemption 2 experience on PC, and hereâs how:
- 19 new outlaws: Each outlaw has their own name, backstory, crimes and personality. The mod also features over 1,400 recorded voice lines.
- Wanted posters: Players can pick up wanted posters from sheriff's offices in Valentine, Rhodes, Saint Denis, Strawberry and Annesburg. Between three and five new bounties appear each in-game day, with clues to help track down your targets.
- Over 40 hideouts: Outlaws can be found hiding in camps, cabins and gang hideouts across New Hanover, Lemoyne, Big Valley and Ambarino.
- Tracking down outlaws: A red search area appears on the map, which gradually gets smaller as you get closer to finding your target.
- Three difficulty levels: Bounties range from Petty to Wanted and Dangerous, with tougher enemies and bigger rewards depending on the difficulty.
- Dead or alive: You can kill your targets, capture them with a lasso, knock them unconscious or even convince them to surrender. However, some outlaws may try to escape on foot or horseback.
- Your choices matter: You can accept bribes, negotiate with outlaws or double-cross them, which can impact your reputation with criminals and the law.
- Public executions: Some captured outlaws may face public execution, but Arthur can intervene and save them by shooting the rope.
- Three legendary bounties: Once you've encountered all 19 outlaws, you'll unlock three legendary bounties that offer an even greater challenge.
What you need to know about the free RDR2 bounty hunting mod
As with most Rockstar Games mods, this one is exclusive to the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 and isn't available on consoles. It also only works with the single-player story mode, not Red Dead Online.
Before downloading, be sure to check the mod's installation requirements, as you may need additional files or tools for it to work. For example, this particular mod requires âScript Hook RDR2â by Alexander Blade. You'll also need to follow the installation instructions provided on the mod's NexusMods page.
One final thing worth mentioning: as this is an unofficial fan-made expansion, it's always a good idea to back up your game files before installing it, just in case something goes wrong.
