Steam drops hundreds of free downloads featuring 2023's biggest games

You can now sample hundreds of Steam demos completely for free thanks to Steam's Next Fest.

Our beloved Steam. That site just keeps on delivering the freebies. It does mean that my gaming backlog is reaching dizzying heights that I may never fully work through but hey, I’m going to add a couple more to the pile nonetheless. After all, they’re free.

Just yesterday, one of Steam’s most popular games, Valheim, got a ton of new free content. One critically acclaimed release and its sequel are also free to download right now. You can sample what’s set to be one of 2023’s major multiplayer releases for free, plus there are 12 indies also available for you to grab, totally free of charge. The fun doesn’t stop there. Steam’s Next Fest is running from 19 June to 26 June and during that time, you can download and sample hundreds of free demos for some really incredible games.

Lies of P is one of those games. Take a look at it in action below.

Over the next week, you’ll be able to enjoy hundreds of Steam demos which is a great way of narrowing down which full releases you’d eventually like to purchase throughout the next year. Of course, I can’t name all of them, but I can highlight a few popular picks. Lies of P is currently dominating the Next Fest charts. Developed by Round8 Studio, this upcoming soulslike is loosely based around the famous character of Pinnochio. It’s set to release on 19 September, 2023.

Players are also adoring Sea of Stars. Created by Sabotage Studio, the turn-based RPG centres around two heroes named Valere and Zale who use the power of the sun and moon to fight against an evil alchemist. It’s been compared to Chrono Trigger. If that’s not up your alley, you may want to try mediaeval multiplayer Warhaven or sci-fi single-player adventure The Invincible.

There’s also life-sim Moonstone Island, puzzle platformer Viewfinder, RPG For The King II, action-adventure En Grade, hack and slash Eternights, farming sim Paleo Pines, and racer Pacific Drive. I could go on. Next Fest is definitely worth a browse.
