MCU officially assembling Young Avengers for the first time this year

It's a taste of what's to come

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s plan for the Young Avengers is becoming very slightly clearer.

It’s been obvious for quite some time that the MCU has been building up the Young Avengers’ roster, without actually admitting so.

Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Katheryn Newton’s Cassie Lang, Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, and Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff/Wiccan are among the current faces most likely to appear in the team.

There’s also Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams/Ironheart who may be drafted in.

The main tease with regards to the Young Avengers came at the end of The Marvels when we saw Kamala recruit Kate Bishop, teasing that she was “putting together a team”.

Since then though, little else has been said, and The Marvels came out two years ago.

I wonder if the team will come together in Doomsday or Secret Wars? Or whether the Young Avengers are something we’ll explore more in the next saga?

What we do know is that in the meantime, several likely members of the team will be joining forces in the upcoming Marvel Zombies.

The only catch here is that, of course, Marvel Zombies is set within another time continuity so these are different iterations of the Young Avengers to those we see on the MCU’s Earth-616.

Even still, I personally cannot wait to see Ms Marvel, Ironheart, and Kate Bishop all team up for the very first time in a Marvel Studios project.

Vellani, Steinfeld, and Thorne have all reprised their roles, so this is very much a taste of what’s to come in the mainline MCU.

As you’re likely aware, Marvel Zombies is a series inspired by the What If…? episode that saw our heroes either face off against or turn into horrifying zombies.

That episode landed in 2021 so fair to say, this spin-off has been a long time coming.

It’s finally set to land on 3 October and will consist of just four episodes.

Given how long they’ve been cooking this one, I’m going to imagine those four episodes pack a punch.
