MCU fans lose it as Avengers: Doomsday first official footage is released

You've seen a snippet without perhaps realising

Avengers: Doomsday is in the midst of filming, so it’s unlikely we’re going to receive a trailer anytime soon - especially as the film now isn’t set to launch until December 2026.

As pointed out by fan though, we’ve actually already had our first glimpse at the film; that came courtesy of Thunderbolts*.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t actually caught the film just yet, but I will as soon as it inevitably lands on Disney Plus in the next few months.

If you did see it in cinemas though, that would have likely included the post-credits scene that seemingly links directly to Avengers: Doomsday, unless you dashed out of the cinema before it began.

That’s entirely possible, as this scene came after the full credits; it wasn’t the mid-credits scene.

In it, we find the Thunderbolts - or New Avengers - at the Watchtower 14 months after the events of the film.

Kitted out in new outfits, the group is discussing the issue of Bucky revealing that Sam Wilson has filed for copyright with regards to the Avengers name when they’re interrupted by a signal from space.

A screen shows an incoming ship featuring the number four in what is a clear reference to, you guessed it, The Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four: The First Steps is the next film in the MCU’s timeline so you might be wondering why I’m calling this a Doomsday tease more so than one for that film.

The going theory is that this scene is actually set after the events of The Fantastic Four: The First Steps.

You see, The First Steps is set within another universe which means the characters are not present on Earth-616.

It’s likely that whatever happens within the film will bring the foursome to our earth, so this scene is assumed to be linked to the ending of that film or the opening of Avengers: Doomsday.

It’s clearly of importance as Thunderbolts*’s director, Jake Schreier, had very little to do with it, revealing it was filmed just four weeks before the movie’s release by the Russo brothers.

They will be directing Doomsday, so you can see the clear link.

In fact, Schreier has recently gone on record to say, “You were watching a small hint of that film,” which essentially confirms the Doomsday theory.

You can imagine the excitement from fans.

“I still have goosebumps from this scene,” wrote GentleHawk9.

“I AM SO READY,” added MCUDootDootDoot.

We’ve got quite a wait ahead of us, but I have a sneaky feeling Avengers: Doomsday will be worth it.
