Steam users can now check out a free taster for an upcoming RPG which may appeal to Baldur’s Gate fans.
Embers of the Uncrowned blends the tactical isometric gameplay of Baldur’s Gate 3 with the expansive dark open world of Elden Ring to create a unique MMO setting.
Revealed by Nexon back in April, Embers of the Uncrowned was announced with a release window of "coming soon", but things did not get more specific from there.
However, for players who want to play through a small slice of the game before it gets a full release, a free demo is now available to download from Steam.

The demo isn’t actually live yet, but will be going live tomorrow from 10 AM PDT (that’s 5 PM UTC). It’ll also only be available for a limited time, running until 22 June at 10 AM PDT.
So you only have a week to check the game out and provide feedback to Nexon, but if you’ve been looking to try this out ahead of the game’s launch, it’d be a pretty good opportunity to do so this week.
“Your quest unfolds in Embers of the Uncrowned, a dark fantasy MMORPG presented in a rich isometric view,” reads the Steam description for Embers of the Uncrowned.
“In a continent ravaged by an elven invasion, you are the last hope for House Harborwell. Born illegitimate, you left home to become a mercenary, only to find that destiny has called you back. Now, as the rightful lord, you must reclaim your lost domain and rebuild your house. Fight back against the corrupted creatures and elven forces that plague the continent.”

As an MMO, expect Embers of the Uncrowned to feature unique classes where each one offers a significantly different playstyle.
For example, the Spectral Blade cuts through enemies using a giant longsword, while the Stormbringer calls down a furious storm which strikes enemies with a combination of powerful wind and lightning magic.
Using these classes, you’ll fight different enemies and bosses that you encounter during your adventures. This includes Domain Bosses, who occupy different regions and will take a large coordinated effort in order to bring down.
This can be combined with the different raids where you can confront overwhelmingly powerful bosses, where you and your group will need perfect cooperation in order to complete it.
While the demo version of Embers of the Uncrowned will be available for the next week, the full release of the game does not yet have a concrete release date set in stone yet.
However, it should be expected to land in the near future, and more news will be available following the end of the demo period.
