I don’t think I need to wait for the PS6 now, because this new PS2 return is all that’s on my mind.

I don’t know about you, but a lot of my fond childhood memories are from playing the original PlayStation and its successor, the PS2.

Just one note of that startup sound, and I’m instantly reliving my younger years playing classic games like Devil May Cry, Star Wars: Battlefront, and Shadow of the Colossus.

If you’re so inclined, you can now buy a plush of the original PS2 in all its glory.

It doesn’t come with a working disc drive or anything, but it looks like a must-own for any big PlayStation fans.

The plush stands at 16.5 inches tall (42cm), which is rather on the larger side, and it mirrors the classic design of the original “fat” PS2—complete with a disc tray and ports painted on the sides.

It’s cute, and might tempt those who enjoy the PS2’s aesthetic. There’s a reason it became one of the most successful consoles of all time, of course, and the look of the hardware is a big part of that.

I'm even thinking it might be a fun addition to my gaming space, although I sadly haven’t taken my PS2 out of storage in years.

The PS2 plush is being produced by Banpresto, which is a subsidiary of Bandai Namco. That indicates that it should be an officially licenced product from Sony, despite the fact that the only place you can buy one right now is on Big Bad Toy Store.

It’s priced at $29.99, and has a vague release window of December 2025. However, as with all products like this, that could be subject to change at any time.

It’s pretty cool either way though. I’d love to see more releases like this in the future. I think plushes based on the Nintendo DS or GameCube would be quite fun to have.

And it's also good to see that people are still rightfully praising the PS2 as the GOAT, as they should.
