PS1 Game Receives Long-Awaited Remaster, 26 Years On

I bet you haven't heard of it

The original PlayStation got a lot of games over the years, but for every titanic release like Tomb Raider or Final Fantasy, there were ten more that passed by without much in the way of fanfare or praise.

Equally, the old region locking system saw a lot of games released that never made the journey across to another part of the world, particularly in Japan, where a ton of releases never made it to Europe or the USA.

The return of older games on the new generation of consoles has opened the door to some of them finally getting the opportunity to do so via remakes and remasters, and it's that which brings us here today.

Milano’s Odd Job Collection Breaks Free From the PS1

As first reported by ComicBook.com, Milano's Odd Job Collection is getting a remaster, breaking free of its previous confines on the PlayStation 1, where only those with a Japanese version of the console have ever been able to play.

Publisher XSEED Games has now officially released the game, which follows the titular 11 year old Milano as he performs a series of summer jobs, each of which serves as its own mini-game.

Though it may have been a bit before some of your times, it was actually a pretty popular release when it first came out all the way back in 1999, even if it wasn't ever given to Western audiences.

As you might expect for a modern release of a game that came out more than 25 years ago, Milano's Odd Job Collection comes with some meaningful changes and updates that should make it a lot more palatable for modern audiences.

That includes sharper visuals and native resolution changes for modern displays, as well as better load times, an improved saving system and a rewind feature that really will come in handy across a playthrough.

In the modern era of cosy games that allow you to work normal jobs, this latest arrival actually slots in pretty seamlessly. You're able to do everything from nursing (don't mention the ethical concerns around an 11 year old doing that) to fruit delivery, and it's an experience that's well worth trying at least once.

Happily, you don't have to be a PlayStation player to get in on the action, with the game now out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, with a free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade pack also coming on 22 December.
