There was something special about the relationship between the original PlayStation and platformers, as some of the most legendary titles released on the console are absolutely from that genre.
Games like Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Rayman and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are still rightly appreciated as some of the best games of the entire generation, but they were all of them deceived, for another platformer was made.
Many of you will remember the original Tomba fondly. Developed by Whoopee Camp, who at the time were developed by legendary Japanese video game designer Tokuro Fujiwara, the game is an open-world metroidvania where the titular protagonist explores his home island and kills some angry pigs along the way.
The sequel is less appreciated but arguably just as good, retaining the best elements of the first game and crisping up the visuals slightly in what is a genuinely solid follow up that retains the difficulty Fujiwara became known for.

Now, said sequel is about to make a return via a new release that every nostalgic PS1 player should be on the lookout for.
Tomba 2: The Evil Swine Return Special Edition Released on 15 December

As first reported by ComicBook, Tomba 2: The Evil Swine Return Special Edition has been revealed for a 15 December release, alongside a new trailer for the game, developed by the team who did the same with the original, Limited Run Games.

One the game's Steam page, the developer shared the following, "Tomba is back for more in Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return Special Edition, a celebration of the often overlooked sequel to the legendary platformer, Tomba! Evil Pigs have invaded a nearby land and Tomba's friend Tabby has disappeared without a trace! Without hesitation, Tomba leaps into the sea to find his friend and save the day!"
If you're reading this and you find the name of the game to be vaguely familiar, but you're not really sure why as you haven't played it, there may be a little piece of internet history that explains it.
If you were around on the web back in 2014, you may remember a legendary incident at Summer Games Done Quick, in which a player speedrunning the game stated that he'd "really prefer" if the person next to him would "be quiet".
It's arguably one of the best videos on the internet and if it doesn't make you want to check the game out a little bit, then I don't think we can be friends.
