A remaster of a beloved 1998 classic is getting a new-gen refresh.
Retro games remaster specialist Nightdive Studios has worked on some killer classics recently, bringing beloved older titles to newer consoles. In the past year alone, it’s done remasters of System Shock 2, Heretic, and Hexen. And it looks like it won’t be stopping there.
Nightdive did remasters of the first two Turok games last generation, meaning they didn’t get ports for PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Instead, we have had to rely on backwards compatibility to run these games on modern consoles.
However, Nightdive has now announced a new update for Turok 2: Seed of Evil, giving it native PS5 support with some new features and graphical upgrades.

“Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is now optimized for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5! The game has also been updated on all platforms, with the full patch notes listed below,” the developer announced.

What's in the new Turok 2: Seeds of Evil update?
Aside from current-gen console optimisation, the update also includes some fixes and new features that fans have been asking for years.
For starters, Turok 2 now supports 4K resolutions and high refresh rates for displays that support it. There are also “Smoother shadows, optimized light scattering, and improved ambient occlusion.”
Meanwhile, Nightdive has also taken this as an opportunity to add some new accessibility upgrades too. Subtitles have been added for all cinematics, and localisation has also been improved across the board.
Various bug fixes have also been made, for example various UI issues that occurred during multiplayer have been fixed. Minor clipping issues and viewmodel bugs have also been addressed, to tie in with the PC update which features support for ultrawide resolutions.
Finally, the developer has also added cross-platform multiplayer with local split-screen, which should open up new opportunities when it comes to playing with friends or public games.
As for the pricing of this new-gen version of Turok 2, it’s the same as the last generation version. So it’ll set you back about £15.99 / $19.99.
This update is also included with the new release of the Turok Trilogy Bundle, a physical release that packages all three games into one for release on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
“Having defeated the Campaigner, Turok throws the Chronocepter into a waiting volcano to destroy it,” reads the official game description for Turok 2. “Unfortunately the blast awakens an even deadlier force - The Primagen. Once again a Turok is tasked with restoring peace to the land and stopping the Primagen from merging Earth with the nether world.”
