The lack of a new game in the Fallout series has become a bit galling for us Fallout fans, but with that release not expected to arrive until after The Elder Scrolls VI, it looks like we're going to be waiting for a good while longer yet.
That said, it's still a great time to be into the franchise, thanks to the release of cool new projects like the series on Prime Video, as well as impressive new expansion for Bethesda's MMO Fallout 76.
Equally, the release of the remaster for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion quickly turned the conversation to what the developer might do next, and which games in their back catalogue may get a remaster at some point.
Chief amongst the requests on that list are Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, both of which are spectacular games, but could probably do with a little update to their visuals, and back end features like bullet tracking.

Happily, it seems like that might not be just a pipe dream, with Todd Howard coming out once again to do that thing that he does where everyone ends up getting all excited.

Todd Howard Sees the Requests for Fallout Remasters
In a recent conversation with Dexerto, Todd Howard confirmed that he sees all of the requests from fans for remasters, and that the studio is working on lots of different things right now.
"The first thing is, we get it, we see all those comments, I alluded to it when I was on the [Fallout Day] stream," Howard says. "We see it, we're working on a whole bunch of stuff, and we look forward to the day that we can reveal them."
Given that the question put to Howard was specifically about the possibility of remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, it's a pretty considerable hint that there is something on the way down the pipeline.
It's actually noise around Fallout 3 that seems to be the most loud right now, and that game is certainly the one that needs the update the most, particularly if they can add quality-of-life features like aiming down sights.
That also avoids the always awkward conversations around Obsidian's role, with many fans preferring that they take the lead on any potential remaster of New Vegas.
With that not likely to happen for a while, we'll have to tune into the new series on 17 December to get our fix of the Mojave Wasteland and the New Vegas strip.
