Fallout is going through a golden moment as a franchise right now, as the Prime Video adaptation brings in a whole raft of new fans, as well as exciting old ones to get back into the post-apocalyptic wastes for the first time in years.
On the game front, rumours continue to swirl that we might get a remake or remaster of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, though confirmation from the developer is still forthcoming and they might not be in our hands for a while.
At the same time, Bethesda's MMO Fallout 76 is going from strength to strength, incorporating characters from the show into the games for the first time, solidifying the TV adaptation's canon in the wider lore. Now it seems like the powers that be are trying to capitalise on Fallout's popularity even further, with a new series that's unlike anything we've seen up to this point.

Fallout Shelter Coming to Prime Video
As revealed on the official Fallout X account, we now have confirmation of a new Amazon reality series amusingly named Fallout Shelter, in which contestants will fittingly live together in a mock-up of a vault.

“Good morning, prospective Vault Dwellers! In order to best serve you in What Comes Next, we need volunteers for a very real, very scientific opportunity to beta test a better society,” the post reads.
“Visit this website if you’d like to join Fallout Shelter, a new series full of escalating challenges, strategic dilemmas, and moral conundrums. Good luck!”
The producers behind the show also shared some official blurb, which gives us a decent window into what they’ve got cooking.
“Set inside Vault-Tec’s bomb-proof vaults, Fallout Shelter drops a diverse group of contestants into an immersive, high-stakes world inspired by the games’ signature dark humor, retro-futurism, and post-apocalyptic survival storytelling.”
“Across a series of escalating challenges, strategic dilemmas, and moral crossroads, contestants must prove their ingenuity, teamwork, and resilience as they compete for safety, power, and ultimately a huge cash prize.”
It's an admittedly cool premise, even if it is one that seems to miss the point of the vaults in the original Fallout franchise, and if they make it look as good as the main show, then it should be an impressive rendition of vault life.
It's presumably also designed to act as some kind of competitor to Squid Game: The Challenge which proved to be an enormous success for streaming rival Netflix.
