Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game considered to be one of the best of all time, and that’s saying something considering the portfolio of Rockstar Games.

When Rockstar Games released Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 it became a prime example of how a sequel should be done. It’s bigger, has more gameplay depth, looks stunning and has a fantastic cast of actors as well as a sublime soundtrack. In many ways, it’s a near-perfect sequel.

Even to this day, players are discovering new things in Red Dead Redemption 2. Well, some might not be technically new, but it’s at least new to that individual. Such as the one player who recently discovered that you can dual anyone in the game (kind of).

Following the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, players were reporting noises of a screaming man at the Saints Hotel in the town of Valentine. “I keep hearing it whenever I go inside. I’ve tried renting a room but it seems that it’s next door. It’s really loud so I don’t think it was a detail meant to be unnoticed. Does anyone have more information?” said a bemused YouDontKnowMeh_2 on Reddit.

Apparently, this ghostly scream is from a man in a considerable amount of pain, as revealed by Redditor kylar7900. “If you read the newspaper Hanover Gazette no.40 there is an article about him. He has an undiagnosed bowel sickness and has lived in the hotel for nine years and is feeling pain shortly after eating a church potluck supper.”

A detail found on the Red Dead Wiki page elaborates further on this once unnerving mystery. The man in question is named Harville Pressley who can be: “seen during the mission ‘Polite Society, Valentine Style’ when Arthur looks for Karen Jones in the Saints Hotel. If Arthur enters Presley's room he will be seen in the chamber pot and tells Arthur to get out,” reads the Wiki entry. “By 1907, Presley had made room 2A in the Saints Hotel his permanent home.

“According to a newspaper article, he had begun experiencing bowel disease after eating at a church potluck supper. He rarely leaves his accommodation due to his illness and has been visited by countless doctors and specialists. His room is under quarantine and other visitors to the hotel are given lodging away from it to not disturb them with his auditory complaints.”

So there you have it, the mystery of the screaming man in Saints Hotel is well and truly solved. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
