Long-time favourite and series icon, Ezio, is making a return to the world of Assassin’s Creed, in the upcoming release, Assassin’s Creed Animus.

The board game, that pulls heroes and villains from the Assassin’s Creed series, launched recently on Kickstarter and has since seen several updates as pledges roll in.

Animus brings everyone together in a board game of “stealth, combat and adventure,” and seems an absolute must for fans of the franchise.

Recent stretch goals have seen other assassins added to the fray, but one is easily headlining the wealth of updates, as Ezio makes his welcome return.

Oh, were it to be a fully-fledged video game, wouldn’t that be nice, but this will do for the players who loved Ezio’s adventures in his trilogy.

Ezio became a favourite among fans for many reasons, but aside from his core story, he doesn’t differ all that much from other assassins in their goal.

Perhaps it was simply because Assassin’s Creed 2 and the subsequent games were just that good, that we’ve come to see Ezio as a beacon for what made the series so great.

Since then, we’ve had a whole host of other assassins jump in and skewer their enemies, and these will also be available through the Kickstarter campaign, as more money is raised.

The likes of Evie, Aveline, and Yasuke have recently been announced, but if you’re a hardcore fan, going all the way back to 2009, then you’ll be eager to see the best boy has returned.

Partnering with Ubisoft, Mantic Games hopes to distil the adventure and dangers of the video game series into this new board game, with plenty of features stemming from the games ready to test players.

While that all sounds wonderful, many backers will be excited to get their hands on the delightful miniatures included, all of which bring the iconic characters to life.
