Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been one of the most popular games in the series for a good reason.
Aside from a rather expansive open world, it had great ship combat, a fun pirate story, and was generally seen as just an excellent departure from the previous Assassin’s Creed games.
While many of the Assassin’s Creed games that followed it have been well received, particularly Assassin’s Creed Shadows from last year, everyone has been clamouring for some kind of Black Flag successor.
While there doesn’t seem to be an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag sequel in development, rumours of a remake or remaster have been floating around for a while now.

The title of the remake is alleged to be Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, and was rumoured to appear at The Game Awards in December. When the game was a no-show, the new theory was that it would be revealed in early 2026.

A New Domain Has Been Registered For Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
The leaks haven't ended there though, as Assassin’s Creed fans have now discovered a domain register under the same name as the alleged Black Flag remake.
“I was checking to see if Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced had a domain registered, and it does,” writes X user The Hidden One.
“It was registered recently only 25 days ago. It’s registered through GANDI SAS, a French registrar that’s always been Ubisoft’s default, and they use it all the time across their IPs like Far Cry, Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, Just Dance, and so on.”
That seems to be another slice of concrete proof that the Black Flag remake is due to be revealed soon.
It follows Ubisoft’s pattern of releasing different kinds of Assassin’s Creed games in-between its larger RPG releases, like Assassin’s Creed Mirage releasing between Valhalla and Shadows. This new remake could come to tide us over until Ubisoft is ready to reveal Assassin's Creed Hexe, the next big game in the series.
This news follows rumours of a new reveal for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, which recently received a similar domain registration and is supposedly being released this month. Pretty wild, considering the game was supposed to come out in January 2021.
While we don’t have anything official yet from Ubisoft regarding the rumoured reveals of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, it’s possible that we’ll hear more as the month goes on.
