It looks like Assassin’s Creed will be getting a second remake following the release of Black Flag Resynced.
Today, one of the worst-kept secrets in the video game industry in recent times, the remake that is Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, will be officially revealed to the world by Ubisoft. With a bit of luck, we’ll be treated to some gameplay and a release date that’s not too far away.
However, what comes after Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, I hear you ask? Well, we know it will be getting at least one piece of free DLC for launch, after that, only time will tell.
That being said, according to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft plans on releasing “at least” one more remake following Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. Unfortunately, it’s not specified which game in the series will receive the modern makeover treatment.
Advert
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reports that sources claim one remake is already in early development, and depending on the success of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, this could trigger Ubisoft to create even more remakes.
Perhaps the most logical game to get a remake would be the original Assassin’s Creed, which was released in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, starring Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
The original game is beloved by many, and while Assassin’s Creed still looks decent visually, its gameplay hasn't aged as well and feels rather clunky compared to more recent games in the series, such as 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

However, considering that Ubisoft’s first remake in this series is with the fourth numbered entry, it’s entirely likely that it may jump to a game that was released after the 2007 original.
Alongside Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, which was first released in 2013, arguably the other most popular games in the series are Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. I would imagine that there won't be too many disappointed fans if the next remakes featured the endlessly charismatic Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will be revealed to the world via the official Ubisoft YouTube and Twitch channels later today at 5pm BST / 6pm CEST / 9am PDT.
As I mentioned earlier, at the time of writing, the release date for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced hasn't been officially announced yet. Insider Gaming claims that it will launch on 9 July 2026. Confirmation should land later today during that aforementioned reveal showcase.
