Not long left to wait

It has been over five years since Ubisoft announced that it would be giving the fans what they want with a remake of the beloved PS2 classic Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

After failing to meet its January 2021 release date, the remake was met with a series of delays, ending with the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake being handed over to a new developer entirely.

Since then, Ubisoft assured fans that it would be arriving prior to April 2026 in a recent financial report, which leads us to the latest update.

With previous insiders suggesting that the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake would arrive some time in mid-January 2026, Insider Gaming’s very own Tom Henderson has come forward with a more concretedate.

In a clip taken from the recent Insider Gaming podcast episode, Henderson can be heard sharing the news.

With 2003’s Prince of Persia: Sands of Time being widely regarded as one of the best action platformers of all time, it is about time that it received the remake treatment after initially being released on the Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and PC over two decades ago.

A Legend Returns

“Amidst the scorched sands of ancient Persia, there is a legend spun in an ancient tongue,” the official synopsis for Prince of Persia: Sands of Time reads.

“It speaks of a time borne by blood and ruled by deceit. Drawn to the dark powers of a magic dagger, a young Prince is led to unleash a deadly evil upon a beautiful kingdom.”

Now it remains to be seen when its long-awaited remake will drop.

With some fans believing that it will be re-announced at this year’s The Game Awards on 12 December, others believe it could also possibly be shadow-dropped.

That could definitely be possible if its publisher does not wish to open pre-orders and it would also make for an amazing Christmas present.

However, with insiders such as Henderson believing that there may be a few weeks to go yet, all we can do is wait and see.

Whatever happens, it is still exciting to know that the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is just around the corner and for many of us, it will be the first time we are heading back to those sands since the early 00s.
