When it comes to Rockstar and updates for Red Dead Redemption 2, well, let us just say that its track record is not great.

Now it seems as though that spell is not about to be broken any time soon as a brand-new update for Red Dead Redemption 2 is available throughout August and fans are less than impressed once again.

Why, you may ask?

Well, because Red Dead Online players will be receiving much of the same as Rockstar hosts yet another Call to Arms event, complete with 2x RDO$ and returning limited-time clothing and cosmetics.

“Bring fugitives to justice this month to earn extra rewards across Bounty Hunter activities,” the official blog post reads.

“Earn 3X RDO$ and XP on Regular Bounties, and 2X Gold, RDO$, and XP on Legendary and Infamous Bounty Missions.

Finish all Bounty Hunter Daily Challenges for two days in a row to receive the gray and blue Morning Tail Coat.”

As you can see, nothing new is being added here and is just the return of previous game modes and cosmetics so it is perhaps no surprise that fans are disheartened, especially as this seems to be a growing theme for Red Dead Online.

As a result, players took to the official Rockstar Games Twitter account to hash their frustrations.

“If only new content was created... I'd prefer new Stranger missions over Telegrams,” one user wrote.

Another player only has one thing on their mind.

“If it's not about GTA VI, I'm not interested,” they said simply.

It seems as though Rockstar is flogging a dead horse (excuse the pun) when it comes to Red Dead Online but if you are new to the game, make sure to check out this not-brand-new update throughout August.

In the meantime, millions of fans continue to wait for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI as they mark 26 May 2026 on their calendars.
