Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Uncover Locked Area We Weren't Supposed to Explore

Rockstar Games tried (and failed) to keep us out

Red Dead Redemption 2 players have discovered that there’s a rather simple way to access one area of the map that you definitely are not supposed to access, and it only requires a horse and a victim you can hogtie…

During the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, the devs at Rockstar Games intentionally lock you out of accessing one of the most pivotal areas of the first game.

There is, of course, a good reason for that, as Arthur Morgan is a wanted man in this area of the map (thanks to Dutch Van der Linde, of course).

If you want to access Blackwater, you’re going to have to wait until much closer to the end of the game. If you do attempt to wander in before this point, you will be chased and harassed by an infinite number of lawmen (which makes it sort of difficult to explore).

However, it turns out that there’s a pretty easy way to actually walk around Blackwater before this point– without having the Pinkertons gun you down in the process.

As spotted by one user over on the r/RDR2 subreddit, all you have to do is take on a bounty mission, and then take said bounty in alive by hogtying them.

“It’s easy. Just do it while carrying a passenger, be it a bounty, Swanson, Jamie, or Jack,” commented user Mojo_Rizen_53.

“Enemies won’t spawn during a mission, be it Pinkertons, Bounty Hunters or predators.”

I can indeed confirm that this still works, because I saw this little trick online during my playthrough.

Unfortunately, there isn’t really anything there that you can find that isn’t present before you’re allowed to go in anyway… but it still feels good giving the officers of the law the middle finger.

Side note, does anyone else shoot Edgar Ross in the nuts 50 times in the epilogue as Jack?
